As medical professionals, chiropractors use techniques such as spinal decompressions, adjustments, manipulations, and more to treat spinal misalignments, bad posture, deep tissue injuries, and a multitude of other pain. Whether this pain is caused from an injury or medical condition, many patients who receive chiropractic care often report better mobility, flexibility, and less discomfort. Depending on the technique, a chiropractor will use either their hands or a specialized device (like a traction table in the case of spinal decompressions) to administer the treatment. There's no age limit on chiropractic care; everyone from babies to seniors can benefit.

Spinal decompression involves stretching the spine using a motorized traction table with the goal of relieving neck pain, back pain, leg pain and numbness and tingling of the arms and legs by gently stretching the spine. As a result, bugling or herniated spinal discs may retract, taking pressure off nerves and other structures relieving pain. Gently stretching the spine through phases of distraction and relaxation causes lower, or even negative pressure with a vacuum effect, to isolate the affected spinal disc and herniation. This releases pressure on the spinal nerves. Additionally, it creates a healing environment with increased blood flow and nutrition to the disc. Disc rehydration enhances the body's natural healing process at the site of injury.

A traditional massage like one performed in a spa doesn't target muscles and tissue deep within the body. The maneuvers used target only the superficial portion of the muscles. Generally, a standard massage is used to relieve stress and tension. A massage therapy session consists of a professional massage therapist performing a deep tissue massage, which reaches deep within the tissue. The therapy will reduce your stress while also serving a vital role in reducing your pain and promoting a more effective recovery. You'll notice the massage therapist will use different maneuvers than a standard masseuse does. For instance, the massage therapist may knead in a rhythmic format. The therapist may use long strokes that help remove fluid from the injured or painful area.
We are an integrated practice, which means that we go beyond chiropractic. When chiropractic care and physical therapy are combined a lot of our runners can quickly get back to basic exercise and physical therapy. This ensures that rehabilitation time is concentrated, and a return to activity requires less of a reclamation to training form. The physical therapist is essential in helping foam rolling and stretching, and setting up proper strengthening protocols and heading off future injuries.
